The Home and School Stars is the Parent-Teacher Association at St. Mary School. Each parent is a member of the group. The group meets on the third Monday of the month in meeting room 1 in the parish hall from September through April.
The association organizes a minimum number of fundraisers throughout the year. The money that is raised goes back to the school for the students and teachers. Some items that have been purchased in the past are books for April Reading month for the students to have in their home library, special chairs and various games for the classrooms, playground equipment, and much more. They also purchase a special gift for each second grade student at the time of their First Holy Communion, as well as a graduation gift for each sixth grade student.
Another project for the Home and School Stars is the soup supper held during Catholic Schools Week. They organize the Basket Raffle planning the theme of each grade level basket, gathering donations, and assembling the baskets.
In the past, the group has been able to purchase Flip Videos for each classroom, help update the computer lab with new computers, upgrades to the school library, cover costs of classroom expenses, and so much more.
